Annette Tucker is a composer, lyricist, teacher, writer, arranger, and producer. Her songs have been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, Tom Jones, Maureen McGovern, Nana Mouskouri, Ricky Nelson, The Knickerbockers, The Electric Prunes, The Ventures, The American Breed, The Brady Bunch, Roy Rogers, and numerous others. Many of her songs have been used on T.V. shows and movies. She has gold albums and has had many songs that have made the top forty and easy listening charts. Her biggest hit was “I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)” by the Electric Prunes. She had a number one hit in Italy by The Brogues titled “I Ain’t No Miracle Worker”. She has been under exclusive contract to Jobete Publishing at Motown, Warner Bros, Four Star Music, Shapiro Bernstein, and the late Don Costa. Sony/ATV, owns a major part of her catalog at this time.
In 1974 ASCAP hired her to run a workshop for new songwriters. It was a huge success. Thousands of writers took her class including many celebrities. The class was written up in the Los Angeles Times and the top music magazines. She has been interviewed on many radio stations and has lectured at several local colleges. She also taught songwriting at U.C.L.A and wrote a weekly column for Songwriter Magazine, reviewing new songs.
In 1996 Ms. Tucker won first place in the American Jewish Song Festival for the lyrics she wrote to Aaron Kaplan’s music. The song was titled “We’re Coming Home”, and was chosen out of 1,000 songs that were submitted from all over the world.
In 1998 Ms. Tucker read and reviewed scripts for Papazian-Hersh entertainment company. She also wrote songs for commercials for Westfield Shopping center that was produced by Dream Street Films and comedy songs for Premiere Radio.
In 2008 Ms. Tucker's song, “Feelin Kinda Sunday”, recorded by Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra, was selected for the State Farm Commercial which ran for 6 months on Fox's Sunday NFL Football games.
In 2009 “I Had Too Much To Dream" was used in the soundtrack for the movie “Men Who Stare at Goats". Ms. Tucker was also hired to write 6 songs for a documentary on Michele Legrand that will be also released on a CD.
From 2010 to the present time Ms. Tucker has been working on a project with Elizabeth Stack, an actess and singer. Ms Tucker has 5 new songs on that album which will be released in 2011 or early 2012 and is very excited to also be writing songs with Elizabeth. Their first song will be the title of the album that they wrote together.
Ms. Tucker has produced two pilots for syndication. One of them was a childrens musical for which she wrote the music and lyrics. She has collaborated with Nancie Mantz, Jill Jones and Kathy Wakefield. Possibly the most famous Tucker/Mantz composition is "I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)", the single that launched The Electric Prunes. Ms. Tucker played a large part in launching the band, having introduced them to David Hassinger.
Ms. Tucker also teaches songwriting at her home in West Hollywood.
